The first National Security Education Study Tour, organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and supported by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was held from 29 March to 4 April 2024. Seventy-five teachers and students from 17 secondary schools participated in the tour, which included visits to Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou.
The students who joined the tour had achieved outstanding results in the Territory-wide Inter-school National Security Knowledge Challenge 2023/24. The study tour allowed students and teachers to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of different fields of national security, as well as insights into the country's system, historical culture, and latest developments and achievements. This experience served to strengthen their sense of national identity and pride, while deepening their first-hand appreciation of the significance of “national security as the bedrock for Hong Kong's security, home security and people's security”.
Members of the study tour were warmly received by Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Nong Rong. They have visited patriotic landmarks, high-tech industries, new kinds of museums, and historical sites, and engaged in in-depth and friendly exchanges with teachers and students from the Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University.
