Overseas interests security includes the protection of the security and legitimate interests of overseas Chinese citizen, institutions and enterprises, as well as the protection of overseas interests of our country from threats and infringements. It is an important component of national security involving the security of overseas energy and resources, the security of strategic sea passageways, and the planning and formulation of international systems for dealing with relations between countries.
In the face of threats such as conflicts and political instability, international terrorism, major natural disasters and serious outbreaks of new infectious diseases, to safeguard overseas interests security, we must adopt effective measures against real threats and various risks and challenges, enhance our capability to maintain overseas security, and strengthen international cooperation.
As our country makes further inroad into high-level opening-up externally, especially the continuous success in the quality development of the "Belt and Road Initiative", the importance of overseas interest security in the context of national security continues to rise.
