National Security Education Day
Safeguarding national security is fundamental to the interests of all ethnic groups in the country. It is the common responsibility of all the people of China and requires all-out efforts of all individuals. Over the years, guided by a holistic approach to national security, bureaux and departments of the HKSAR Government as well as various community institutions, organisations and groups have leveraged the opportunity of the National Security Education Day to organise a series of activities to entrench comprehensive national security education in schools and the community. These well-conceived activities, covering 18 districts throughout Hong Kong and reaching all social strata, are creative and distinctive, thereby achieving remarkable results.

Engaging Communities

Safeguarding national security is the responsibility of all, with every citizen being a participant, promoter, and beneficiary. Communities form the foundation for consolidating efforts to safeguard national security. Promoting national security messages within communities is a key focus of national security education for all.

Engaging Organisations

Government policy bureaux and departments lead the promotion of national security education, acting as the driving force behind the HKSAR’s efforts to safeguard national security. In addition, Hong Kong’s non-governmental organisations, with their wide service coverage and extensive outreach, play crucial roles in various fields of national security. Their extensive community networks make them important partners in the government’s efforts to safeguard national security.

Engaging Schools

Hong Kong will prosper only when its young people thrive; Hong Kong will develop only when its young people achieve well-rounded development; and Hong Kong will have a bright future only when its young people have good career prospects. Cultivating a spirit of patriotism and a sense of responsibility for safeguarding national security in young people is a long-term mission that must begin in schools.

Engaging Enterprises

Enterprises are an integral part of society, and the roles and functions they perform are closely related to safeguarding national security. Promoting national security education at the corporate level is crucial for ensuring that national security education for all is down-to-earth and relevant to daily life.

Engaging Cyberspace

Hong Kong is one of Asia’s Internet hubs. With the prevalence of the Internet, promoting national security education through informatisation and networking is vital for ensuring that such education is both widespread and modernised.
