On 15 April 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over the first meeting of the National Security Commission and creatively put forward a holistic approach to national security.
On 1 July 2015, the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China was passed at the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress, and in accordance with Article 14 of the Law, 15 April each year is designated as the National Security Education Day, which aims at raising the public awareness of national security, creating a positive atmosphere of safeguarding national security and enhancing the capacity to prevent and avert national security risks.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the promulgation of the holistic approach to national security. Over the past decade, this approach has been the fundamental principle and action guideline for the work of safeguarding national security of our country towards tackling the various risks and challenges arising from the national security situation of the new era.
